Okay, having completed my 80th and 81st years, I feel that I am successfully into my 80s. As I said two years ago when I first got here, “Holy crap!” I still have a hard time believing it. I can honestly say, I feel better and healthier now than I did when I was working and in my ’50’s.

Writing these posts for the past dozen years has helped me to maintain my mental and physical health immeasurably. And, if you are one of my regular readers, I hope the information has benefited you, too.
Because of the pandemic, I wasn’t able to update you on my blood work, etc, because the hospital wasn’t offering visits for such ‘extraneous’ items last year.

Happy birthday, Tony. So glad you’re doing well. I’m 78, driving 3 cars behind you, but you’re helping me stay between the lines. Your posts always inspire me. Thank you.

Happy birthday. May you have many more cycling years ahead of you. I think cycling is a great way to get exercise. Easier on the joints than running. I biked across the continent in 2017, logged 12,000 km (7500 miles) that year. It’s use it or lose it when it comes to exercise.

Thanks, Jasper. You are exactly right about ‘use it or lose it.’ So simple really.

Happy Birthday, Tony! I just love what you write although rarely submit a comment. But that doesn’t mean anything! I am just 4 years behind you and, like you, enjoy bike riding immensely. (Although heavy snow at the moment has put a stop to getting on the bike.) Take care, Paul

Happy birthday Tony. Living well takes work and you know it’s worth it.
When my father was 79 he bemoaned the fact that he felt old. He said he could accept the fact if he was in his 80’s.
He is 94 years and 7 months, lives in his own apartment, drives regularly. He said he wants to live till 100, die living in his apartment with his shoes on. He still finds purpose in life. I think that is what keeps him going.

Thanks, Jasper. Your father is a winner. Also sounds like a great example.

Well Happy Birthday, Tony! As a little cartoon I just came across proclaims: we aren’t getting older, just more old-fashioned. I must say, I do prefer the tunes of the 60s over what I here today :).

Indeed! Many thanks, Vinny. Have you seen those commercials about becoming our parents? I laughed and laughed, until I realized that they were laughing at me/us. We are the parents that they are laughing at.
