20 Health benefits of the banana – Infographic

The banana is one of the most amazing fruits there is. I was driving in my car one day listening to public radio. There was a fellow being interviewed who had just written a book on the history of the banana. I laughed. What kind of history could it have? Well, it turned out to be so fascinating that I ended up buying the book.

If you’ve ever had the stomach flu or food poisoning, you’ve probably been told to eat the BRAT diet during recovery. BRAT stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. Critical Nutrients for your Body – Infographic

I think it is crucial to remember that healthy living involves both eating well and exercising. Sometimes folks can get caught up in exercise and think “I can burn anything off.” Thoughts like this can lead to some very unpleasant circumstances and medical surprises. No matter how good your fitness regime is, you still need to eat intelligently, too.

This infographic from Miramont has some really good information on  basic nutritious foods.

11 Super Foods to Add to Your Diet

What I like about this list of super foods is that they look and sound like anything but super. Sometimes in our quest for good nutrition we overlook really good quality for exotic berries and concoctions. Clearly we can do very well by looking right in our own back yard.

My only quibble with this list is that in includes olive oil, but leaves off coconut oil. Please check out my Page – Coconut Oil – Why You Should Include it in Your Diet for more on this superb food.

Good-For-You-Foods-With-A-Bad-RepEveryday, there is someone out there that is unnecessarily avoiding certain foods. They don’t have an allergy and they don’t dislike the food, but in the name of weight loss or health, they are choosing to discriminate against them.

Blogs, news outlets and media figures like Dr. Oz are busy using scare tactics about perfectly-good-for-you foods, and with far fetched promises of shedding 20 pounds in a week. Some processed foods are marketed as “healthy” but they are far from it (see one of my previous posts) while other foods are given a bad reputation, sometimes based on studies that are simply taken out of context. Well I’m here to tell you that unless you have a real food allergy or intolerance, you shouldn’t be avoiding these whole foods based on what the uninformed word is on the street.

Below is a list of 5 foods that you may…
