Hemp seeds are also an outstanding source of magnesium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar. Blend two tablespoons into your smoothie and you’ll get one-quarter of a day’s worth of magnesium (116 mg).

  1. The question isn’t which is healthier – they all have amazing benefits. It’s more like how can I fit a little of each into my meal plans, often. The article doesn’t mention the omega-3s in chia seeds, my reason for eating them – plus the fiber. Buckwheat also offers all amino acids, like the hemp (which I have yet to try). So many great foods to choose from – it’s fitting them all in that is the challenge!

  2. Thanks for your comment, Vinny. Always nice to hear from you. You must check out the hemp sees. I think they are the tastiest of all. I sprinkle hemp and chia seeds into my smoothie in the morning, onto my granola at noon and over my salad in the evening.
