How Many Calories in McDonald’s NEW Quarter Pounders?

Mickey D’s has just released some new variations on their theme of quarter pounders. I haven’t eaten any yet, but here is how they break out nutritionally according to the McDonald’s website:

Quarter Pounder with Cheese

Total Fat 26 grams
Saturated fat 12 grams
Trans fat 1.5 grams

Sodium 1100 mg
Carbohydrates 41 grams

Tot Fat 31 grams
Saturated fat 13 grams
Trans fat 1.5 grams
Cholesterol 105 mg
Sodium 1180 mg
Carbohydrates 46 grams
Fiber 3 grams
Protein 37 grams

Bacon and cheese
Calories 600
Tot Fat 29 grams
Saturated fat 13 grams
Trans fat 1.5 grams
Cholesterol 105 mg
Sodium 1440 mg
Carbohydrates 48 grams
Fiber 3 grams
protein 37 grams

Quarter pounder Deluxe+
Calories 540
Tot Fat 27 grams
Saturated fat 11 grams
Trans fat 1.5 grams
Cholesterol 85 mg
Sodium 960 mg
Carbohydrates 45 grams
Fiber 3 grams
Protein 29 grams

Double Quarter pounder Deluxe+ with Cheese
Calories 750
Tot Fat 43 grams
Saturated fat 19 grams
Trans fat 2.5 grams
Cholesterol 160 mg
Sodium 1280 mg
Carbohydrates 42 grams
Fiber 3 grams
Protein 48 grams

The good news is that they offer a nice amount of protein which we all need daily. On the negative side, there is a lot of total fat, saturated fat and trans fat in them. If you eat 2000 calories in a day, less than 22 grams should come from saturated fat. Also, we are supposed to cut trans fats out of our diets completely, yet these all have at least 1.5 grams and the double has 2.5 grams.

If you need 2000 calories a day to maintain your weight the least of these offers 520 calories. Remember, these are only the sandwich. This doesn’t include the soda and fries for several hundred more calories.

Last but not least, is the Sodium. The guidelines issued by the government say that adults should reduce daily sodium intake to less than 2300 mg per day. For those over age 51, or with a medical condition like diabetes or hypertension, salt intake should fall below 1500 mg. The American Heart Association puts the limit at 1500 mg per day for the entire population. These new quarter pounders all push the envelope on Sodium.

      • I wonder sometimes if the meat that is used in these burgers is really meat. What do you think? I’ve never researched it or anything because I am forced to eat extremely clean but I am always curious and always reading labels.

      • I think because McD’s is such a giant enterprise they wouldn’t dare mess with the meat.

What’s sad is that they offer salads, etc, but folks want the meat and all its attendant fat and calories.

Stay curious and keep reading labels. Good practice.
