After complaining about my chronic high blood pressure in one of my recent posts, a high school friend recommended I try taking niacin, also known as vitamin B3. He had been taking it for cholesterol issues but found it also helps on the blood pressure front.
I did some on-line research, there are pages of it discussing niacin’s impact on cholesterol and blood pressure. Here’s what the University of Maryland medical school has to say about it.
Some of the side effects sound a bit scary but they have to do with taking high doses of it.
I’ve written my doctor to get his thoughts, will post more about it here when I hear back from him. If you’ve tried niacin, let us know what your experience has been.
