Vacation Day 1 — Cheesecake & Walking

First day of vacation brought my wife and I back to an old New York favorite, Junior’s deli, for lunch of classic New York pastrami on an onion roll and, of course, Junior’s cheesecake. None of that is particularly good for me, but I love it all. Instead of pigging out though, I tried for moderation. Rather than a monster pastrami sandwich, I opted for the half sandwich (served on a mini-roll actually) and matzo ball soup.

Next, my wife and I split a piece of Junior’s obscenely delicious chocolate mousse cheesecake instead of each ordering a piece. Doing all that likely saved me 1,000 calories over my old-time normal Junior’s order, I would estimate.

Plus we walked for at least three hours, touring Manhattan and the Metropolitan Museum here; hopefully that will help too. The scale will tell when I’m back home but, all in all, don’t think I did too badly today compared to past trips here.

Tomorrow we head for Chelsea Market where Iron Chef Morimoto is supposed to have a lunch place, sushi should be incredible and it’s relatively healthy.

Stay tuned and enjoy the pictures with this one.
